Svalbard, Norway (departing Longyearbyen)

“"Anchor in an untouched fjord, look up at a face nobody has skied, and just… go. That's the whole promise of a ski-sail."”
Eight days ski-touring untouched arctic peaks from a small expedition sailboat in the fjords of Svalbard, with polar-bear guard and midnight-sun ridgelines.
A small crew of six skiers, one certified UIAGM mountain guide and a polar-trained skipper board a 60-ft expedition sailboat in Longyearbyen. From there you sail into remote Svalbard fjords, dropping anchor beneath 1000m peaks that see maybe a dozen skiers a year. Each morning you skin from the shoreline to a summit, ski powder or corn back to the boat, then sail to the next fjord for the next line. Evenings are hot meals in the galley, sauna on deck, and — depending on the season — endless daylight or northern lights. Rifle-carrying guide required by Svalbard law for polar bear presence.
