Raja Ampat Liveaboard Free-Dive & Reef Steward

The Narrative

"When you dive here you understand why we protect it. Every reef we plant back is a promise to our grandchildren."

Seven days aboard a Papuan phinisi in Raja Ampat, freediving the world's richest reefs and working alongside local reef stewards planting coral fragments.

You sleep on a traditional wooden phinisi crewed by Papuan captains and cooks, moving between remote karst islands of Raja Ampat — the most biodiverse marine ecosystem on Earth. Mornings are guided freedive sessions at world-class dive sites (Cape Kri, Manta Sandy, Wayag lagoon). Afternoons you work with the Papua Reef Stewards, a local NGO, planting coral fragments on nursery frames, monitoring bleaching, and helping seed marine protected areas. Evenings are Papuan cooking on deck, phosphorescence in the wake, and stars unfiltered by any light on land.

This experience is rated moderate risk. Review prep notes before booking.
